Plenty of Running Options

by Brian Olson
Shooks Run Trail North

Just one of the nice things about living near downtown Colorado Springs is the plethora of available running routes. Whether you’re looking for a lunchtime run or an evening stroll through Shook’s Run.

With the weather being as nice as it is the trails are sure to be more crowded than normal as the seasonal runners join the hardcore athletes. Early morning runs are cooler and typically less crowded but who can get up early every day to make that happen? Lunchtime and evening runs are more popular.

Running in the Pikes Peak region is almost always a visually appealing venture. What with all the mountain views, riverside trails and mountain trails there are routes for the beginner through to even the most advanced runners.

For a definitive look at various running routes in the Colorado Springs area check out the Pikes Peak Road Runners website and join the club!

About Colorado Springs, CO

Colorado Springs is located right in the middle of Colorado - nestled in the foothills of the great Rocky Mountains. Founded by General William Jackson Palmer in 1871, perhaps the area's most well-known geographic landmark is Pikes Peak, a 14,110 foot giant also known as America's Mountain. The natural beauty of Colorado Springs doesn't begin and end with Pikes Peak thanks to geological wonders like The Garden of the Gods, scores of parks and nature preserves and hiking and biking trails throughout the city. With over 250 days of sunshine each year local residents take advantage of a mild climate that allows them to enjoy Colorado Springs year-round. About-ColoradoSpringsCO.com is a site dedicated to remembering the area's rich history and keeping up-to-date on the latest happenings.
